Open excavation

Open excavation Many years ago I was walking past a park in East Van. The construction workers had gone home and left a large hole in the ground. I went over to investigate. I was looking down the hole and leaned too far over – I fell in head first! I was very lucky I missed a large boulder on the bottom. Well, there was no way out; it was too deep, so I started yelling “Help!” One nice man came along and he phoned the fire department. They put a ladder down and I was out safe. (City Hall was lucky I didn’t sue them.) The next day I walked by and the hole was surrounded by a wooden fence. Marlene Wuttunee
